Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care

Ontario is improving emergency and mental health care in Brantford by supporting the redevelopment, expansion and renovation of Brantford General Hospital.

Dr. Helena Jaczek, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, was at Brantford General Hospital today to make the announcement. As part of the redevelopment, the emergency room will be enhanced to include new entrances, and renovations will be completed to improve visibility for patients and staff and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.

The Inpatient Mental Health Unit at Brantford General Hospital will also be renovated to provide a safe physical space for patients and their families, and existing inpatient areas will be upgraded to make them more comfortable.

Building and expanding hospitals is part of Ontario's plan to create fairness and opportunity during this period of rapid economic change. The plan includes a higher minimum wage and better working conditions, free tuition for hundreds of thousands of students, easier access to affordable child care, and free prescription drugs for everyone under 25 through the biggest expansion of medicare in a generation.
