Huronia Historical Parks Renews Theatre Company At Discovery Harbour

Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport

Huronia Historical Parks has selected Drayton Entertainment to operate the King's Wharf Theatre for 10 more years.

Part of Discovery Harbour, an attraction of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, the summer theatre attracts 26,000 people annually to Penetanguishene and has become an important cultural landmark.

Discovery Harbour is a recreated, 19th century naval and military garrison on Southern Georgian Bay.

The attraction is home to the replica British sailing ships H.M.S. Tecumseth and H.M.S. Bee.

Quick Facts

  • Drayton Entertainment has operated the theatre since 1999.
  • The historic properties at Discovery Harbour include the restored Officers' Quarters and provide visitors with the opportunity to learn first-hand the challenges of shipwrights, sailors, soldiers and other military and civilian personnel at this isolated outpost in Upper Canada.
