Industry Leader Appointed Chair of the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation
Ontario has appointed Antoni Cimolino as chair of the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (OTMPC) Board of Directors, effective immediately, for a two-year period.
Mr. Cimolino was first appointed to the Board on February 6, 2002, and was named vice-chair on December 6, 2006. He has been serving as acting chair since June 2010.
Mr. Cimolino is general director of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival and artistic director designate of the Festival for 2013. Prior to this, Mr. Cimolino acted in and directed numerous Festival productions. Among his other credits, Mr. Cimolino was instrumental in establishing the Festival's Endowment Foundation, which has raised more than $50 million to date. He also played a key role in the renovation of the Avon Theatre and in the creation of the Studio Theatre.
Mr. Cimolino serves as chairman of the National Steering Committee of Culture Days, a coast-to-coast celebration of culture and the arts in Canada, and has spearheaded the Festival's involvement in a joint project of Cuso-VSO, Canada's international volunteer co-operation agency, to establish a performing arts and educational centre in El Salvador.
As chair of the Board of Directors of the OTMPC, Mr. Cimolino will lead the overall strategic direction of the government agency responsible for marketing and promoting Ontario as a travel destination.
