Statement from Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport on Ontario Place Revitalization Report

Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport

Today, Michael Chan, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport issued the following statement on receiving the final report from the Minister's Advisory Panel on Ontario Place Revitalization:

"On February 1st 2012, I announced that John Tory, Chair of CivicAction, would be leading a panel to advise the government on the redevelopment of Ontario Place. And today, I received the panel's final report and recommendations from Mr. Tory.

The panel undertook a thorough process to develop their recommendations on how to transform Ontario Place into a must visit destination and landmark for Ontario families and tourists from around the world. I would like to thank Mr. Tory and all the panel members for their hard work and advice over the past several months.

I look forward to reviewing the recommendations and responding in a timely fashion to how together, we'll revitalize Ontario Place.

Throughout its 40-year history, Ontario Place has been a signature destination and landmark for Ontarians. Our government is committed to ensuring that future generations of Ontarians have access to the water's edge.

A new Ontario Place is part of the McGuinty government's plan to grow tourism through investments that will stimulate Ontario's economy, create jobs, and develop exciting new opportunities and experiences."
