Support for the Ontario Music Fund

"The Ontario Music Fund has positively changed the landscape for music, and signals that the Government of Ontario agrees that music is a good investment for this province; in fact, that it is one of our competitive advantages. We commend the Government of Ontario for creating the conditions that encourage the private sector to invest in music in order to create jobs and stimulate growth."

-- Graham Henderson, President, Music Canada

"We are pleased with the tremendous support of, and investment in, the domestic music industry, and sincerely thank the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Media Development Corporation for the Ontario Music Fund. It is a testament to the vibrancy and economic viability of independent music labels, managers, agents, studios, artists and many other members of CIMA who collectively employ more than 2,400 people and who represent more than 6,200 Canadian artists. The OMF will enable our members to invest further in their businesses, create jobs in the industry and increase the support and development of a great many talented Canadian independent artists."

-- Stuart Johnston, President, CIMA

"I am so honoured and proud to have been chosen to be a recipient of an Ontario Music Fund grant. It is my hope to inspire as many Canadian artists as possible to build a team and go after their dreams as artist entrepreneurs! This accomplishment came as a result of the belief in me by so many talented people, which helped me gain the courage that was needed to simply try my luck at applying for my first grant as the President of Jully Black Entertainment Inc. Thank you to the Ontario Music Fund for helping me to realize the potential I have as a businesswoman."

-- Jully Black, President and CEO, Jully Black Entertainment Inc.

"We are grateful for this support from the Ontario Media Development Corporation and provincial government's Ontario Music Fund for recognizing the impact that the music industry has on the economic and cultural growth of our communities. This funding is a validation of our ongoing investment in the music community and live music strategies; it allows us to continue to expand our efforts in new ways that bring together and benefit music fans and musicians alike."

-- Charles S. Cutts, President and CEO, The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall

"The support from the new Ontario Music Fund means more live Ontario and Canadian music throughout the province and helped more Ontario and Canadian artists perform at Bluesfest this year as we celebrated our 20th Anniversary. This creates jobs and careers in the Ontario music industry, and at events like ours, increases attendance and increases tourism attendance with its economic impact on communities and the province."

-- Mark Monahan, Executive Director, Ottawa's RBC Bluesfest
