Province Helping Hiram Walker & Sons Expand
Ontario Supporting Growth in Windsor and Essex County
Ontario is helping Hiram Walker & Sons Limited expand their operations to become an industry leader in the premium distilled spirits market.
The province is providing $1 million to support the purchase of new equipment to create product lines geared at consumers of higher-end and niche products, ensuring the Windsor facility continues to be a leader in innovation.
Supporting the province's agri-food industry is part of the government's economic plan that is creating jobs for today and tomorrow. The comprehensive plan and its six priorities focus on Ontario's greatest strengths -- its people and strategic partnerships.
- With 37 fermenters, Hiram Walker & Sons boasts the largest distillery capacity in North America.
- Ontario is home to Canada’s largest food and beverage processing sector, supporting 95,000 jobs and contributing more than $11 billion to the province’s GDP.
- Ontario’s food and beverage processors purchase about two-thirds of the good things that are grown and produced on the province’s farms.
“I’m proud to support innovation in Ontario’s food and beverage processing sector, which is a key driver of our economy. By encouraging the kind of determination and forward thinking Hiram Walker & Sons has shown, I’m confident we will continue to increase growth in our food and beverage sector.”
“Our government is supporting the Windsor Essex region through increased investment and economic opportunity. This investment is not only good for Hiram Walker & Sons, but for Ontario’s agri-food sector as a whole.”
“Our company has made a long-standing commitment to the Windsor community. For over 150 years, the Hiram Walker & Sons’ Windsor facility has built a strong global reputation for quality and innovation, and this investment from the Government of Ontario allows us to continue to build on that proud tradition.”
