Premier Mcguinty Congratulates Alvin Curling On New Post

Speaker Of The Legislature Appointed As Canadian Ambassador To The Dominican Republic

Office of the Premier

QUEEN'S PARK -- Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty today made the following statement regarding the appointment of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, the Honourable Alvin Curling, as the new Canadian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic:

"I want to congratulate Alvin on his new appointment as Canadian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic.

Alvin has dedicated himself to public service and has been a strong voice for Ontarians since first being elected to the Ontario legislature more than 20 years ago. He's always been a passionate advocate of the democratic process, inclusiveness and the protection of rights for all people in Ontario.

I have no doubt that Alvin will make an excellent representative for Canada, but we will miss him in the legislature and as a member of our government. And I know he will be especially missed by the people of Scarborough-Rouge River, whom he has served so well over the years."
