Office of the Premier

"On behalf of all Ontarians, I want to congratulate the players and coaching staff of this year's Team Canada for winning gold. Their hard work is an example for us all and Ontario is very proud of their efforts," said Premier McGuinty.

"These young athletes were focused as a team and produced amazing results. Last night's game was played with drive, dedication and heart and brought the gold medal home to Canada for the second year in a row."

"I especially want to thank the nine players who hail from Ontario. You've done your province proud. Thank you for your commitment to hard work, to Ontario and to Canada."

Team Canada beat Team Russia 5-0 in the gold medal round of the World Junior Hockey Championship played last night at Vancouver's GM Place. The team is led by Head Coach Brent Sutter.
