Premier McGuinty Offers Sympathy To Landslide Victims

Office of the Premier

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty made the following statement today regarding the landslide on Leyte Island in the Philippines:

"On behalf of all Ontarians, I want to extend our deepest sympathies to the families affected by the recent mudslide in the Philippines.

Ontarians hail from every part of the world, so we are affected by such a tragedy, even when it strikes thousands of miles away.

Like people throughout Ontario, I was saddened to hear of this sudden and terrible disaster, which has taken many lives and left so many more homeless.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the victims during this difficult time, and with local citizens and emergency personnel who are working tirelessly to search for survivors.

I also want to express our sympathy for Ontarians who are understandably worried about friends or family who live on Leyte Island."
