Premier Supports Peaceful Resolution In Sri Lanka

Office of the Premier

The Ontario government is deeply concerned about the humanitarian crisis in Sri Lanka. Ontario is pleased to hear that the Canadian government has sent a representative from Canada to Sri Lanka to voice the concerns of Ontarians and of all Canadians.

Ontario encourages the federal government to continue to pressure all parties involved in this humanitarian crisis to bring this conflict to a peaceful end and allow international monitors, aid workers and journalists to the affected areas.

The loss of innocent lives is never acceptable. Ontario is committed to the promotion, protection and advancement of human rights, where all people are valued and treated with dignity.

“Ontarians are 13 million strong and our many diverse communities contribute a great deal to Ontario. My thoughts are with those Ontarians who are worried about friends and family members in Sri Lanka during this difficult time.”

Dalton McGuinty

Premier of Ontario
