Queen's Park Welcomes Governor General David Johnston

McGuinty Government Supports Governor General's Vision Of "A Smart And Caring Nation"

Canada's new Governor General, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, paid an official visit to Queen's Park today.

His Excellency was welcomed by Lieutenant Governor David Onley, Premier Dalton McGuinty, Speaker Steve Peters and MPPs from all parties at a special ceremony featuring music from a children's choir.

His Excellency inspected the Governor General's Horse Guards and the 32 Canadian Brigade Group. After a 21-gun salute, the Governor General and his wife, Her Excellency Mrs. Sharon Johnston, joined the Premier for a private meeting.
