Premier's Statement on the Flooding in Ontario

Office of the Premier

Premier Kathleen Wynne released the following statement on the recent flooding in Ontario:

"My heart goes out to all of the communities and families affected by the recent flooding. I had an opportunity to tour some of those areas today, and I was so inspired by the generosity and resilience the people of Ontario have shown in this difficult circumstance.

We are doing everything we can to help everyone who has been affected to recover. Over the coming days and weeks, we will work with affected municipalities as quickly as possible to determine appropriate financial support.

Provincial officials, including those from the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management, will continue to work closely with local representatives to ensure a quick and coordinated response. Ontario's Ministry of Natural Resources will also continue to work with communities, Conservation Authorities and Environment Canada to provide residents with real-time information about the flooding.

Over the course of the long weekend, people came together as neighbours, family, friends and strangers to help save each other's homes.

I want to thank all of the hard-working individuals, including first responders and public servants and everyone who jumped into action to assist those in need."
