Ms. Elizabeth Dowdeswell will be installed as Ontario's 29th Lieutenant Governor on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in the Queen's Park Legislative Chamber.

Procession will travel south on Queen's Park Crescent and enter the south grounds of the Legislative Building using the east side entrance.

The public will be able to watch the proceedings on the Legislative Assembly of Ontario's television channel and website.


Ms. Elizabeth Dowdeswell will not be available for interviews following the ceremony, but requests can be made for interviews at a later date.

Road Closures:

Please be advised that the following roads will be closed between 12:30 - 3:30 PM on September 23, 2014:

  • Queen's Park Crescent from Bloor Street to College Street
  • Hoskins Ave from Devonshire to Queen's Park Crescent
  • Wellesley Street West from Queen's Park Crescent East to Queen's Park Crescent West

Instructions for Media:

  • Media will be able to access an analog, letterboxed video signal on the Legislative Assembly's main channel on the Bell Television Operating Centre.  Audio of the ceremony is monaural. 
  • There are 4 fixed locations for media:
    • Media Pen 1: Northwest corner of the South Drive
    • Media Pen 2: Outside entrance to the Library Rotunda
    • Media Pen 3: Outside Legislative Chamber (near east doors)
    • Media Pen 4: Outside Legislative Chamber (across from the main entrance and down the west side of the Grand Staircase)
  • Media are asked to be in their positions no later than 12:45 PM
  • Media must provide accreditation upon entrance to the Legislative Building
  • Non-accredited media are asked to enter through the east doors and report to the Press Gallery on the third floor (Room 387A) for media passes
  • Passes are available to still photographers to take pictures from the press galleries and public gallery (limited to 5 per side) during the installation ceremony; however, photographers must remain in the Chamber for the duration of the ceremony
  • There will not be any parking on site. Live eye trucks will need to find street parking nearby
