UPDATED: Lieutenant Governor to Deliver Ontario Speech from the Throne

Her Honour the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, will deliver the Speech from the Throne on Thursday, July 12, 2018. This will open the first Session of the 42nd Parliament of Ontario.

The Lieutenant Governor will begin the event with a ceremonial arrival at Queen's Park. Her Honour will be welcomed by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Premier Doug Ford and Mrs. Ford, and Mr. Todd Decker, Clerk of the Legislative Assembly.

Upon arrival at Queen's Park, Her Honour will receive military honours, including a 100-person guard of honour, the Vice-Regal Salute, and a 15-gun salute from the 4th Canadian Division/Joint Task Force (Central).

Time:    1:40 pm — Lieutenant Governor's arrival at Queen's Park
Location:   Front Steps of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario
    Fixed camera positions available outdoors, to the west of the entrance. Due to tight turnaround time, it is recommended that outlets send two cameras if there is a desire to cover both the indoor and outdoor components.
Time:   1:55 pm — Lieutenant Governor's procession to the Legislative Chamber
Location:   Fixed position 1: Outside Room 247
    Fixed position 2: Outside Legislative Chamber
Time:    2:00 pm — Speech from the Throne
Location:   Legislative Chamber

Instructions for media on site:

  • Media are asked to be in their fixed positions no later than 1:20 pm (outdoors) and 1:40 pm (indoors)
  • Media must register and provide accreditation upon arrival
  • Non-accredited media must report to the Media Centre Inquiry Office, Room 149 in the west wing, for media passes
  • No parking available on site
