Executive Biography

Amrit Mangat was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2007 as the MPP for Mississauga-Brampton South. She was re-elected in 2011 and 2014.

Mangat currently serves as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for Women’s Issues, as well as to the Minister Responsible for Accessibility. She has served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, the Minister of Children and Youth Services, the Minister of Consumer Services, the Minister of Transportation, the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and the Minister Responsible for Seniors.

Prior to immigrating to Canada, Mangat worked as a teacher. In addition to teaching, she managed several small businesses and worked as a senior administrator in a law firm.

Mangat has volunteered for various organizations, including the Rotary Club and the India Rainbow Community Services of Peel. She holds a BA, MA (Economics), B.Ed., M.Ed. and is a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers.

Mangat lives in Peel Region with her husband, Dr. J.S. Mangat, a prominent lawyer.
