Supporting Economic Growth and Manufacturing in Eastern Ontario

Province Partners with Innovative Businesses to Support Hundreds of Local Jobs

Ontario is partnering with Coloured Aggregates Inc., Prysmian Group and SRB Technologies (Canada) Inc. to help the companies create 33 new jobs and retain 244 positions in Eastern Ontario.
 

Coloured Aggregates Inc. excavates, supplies and distributes many types of crushed aggregates and sand. With support from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, Coloured Aggregates is upgrading its processing plant and producing new specialty mineral products. These enhancements will allow the company to improve productivity and increase exports.

Prysmian Group is a global leader in the energy and telecom cables and systems industry. With support from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, Prysmian Group is upgrading its facility. These enhancements will allow the company to increase its production capacity and improve productivity and competitiveness.

SRB Technologies (Canada) Inc. produces self-luminous emergency lighting systems and exit signs that require no energy consumption. With support from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, SRB Technologies is purchasing new equipment. These enhancements will allow the company to expand its product range.

  • Coloured Aggregates Inc. project: Ontario is investing $517,832 from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, supporting an additional investment of $4,660,487 from Coloured Aggregates. The project will create eight new jobs, help to retain six positions, and is expected to be completed by September 2021.
  • Prysmian Group project: Ontario is investing $616,600 from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, supporting an additional investment of $5,549,196 from Prysmian Group. The project will create 15 new jobs, help to retain 197 positions, and is expected to be completed by December 2019.
  • SRB Technologies (Canada) Inc. project: Ontario is investing $234,800 from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, supporting an additional investment of $1,330,500 from SRB Technologies. The project will create 10 new jobs, help to retain 41 positions, and is expected to be completed by December 2019.
  • Since 2013, the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund and Eastern Ontario Development Fund have helped to create and retain approximately 40,600 jobs and attracted approximately $2 billion in investment. The funds cover up to 15 per cent of eligible project costs, with the recipient company funding the remainder from its own resources.
  • Ontario is accepting applications for the Eastern Ontario Development Fund from qualified businesses that are growing and creating jobs. Sectors eligible for the fund include advanced manufacturing, food processing, life sciences, information and communications technology, tourism and cultural industries.
  • Ontario’s five-year, $650-million Business Growth Initiative is helping to grow the economy and create jobs by promoting an innovation-based economy, helping small companies scale up and modernizing regulations for businesses.
