Ontario Supporting 675 Jobs in Essex County

Province Partnering with Manufacturers to Boost Local Economy

Ontario is partnering with five manufacturing businesses in Essex County to help create 168 new jobs and retain 507 others locally.

Jahn Engineering has been in the Tool and Die automotive industry for more than 55 years, specializing in creative engineering solutions for customers around the globe. With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company will expand its facility and purchase new equipment including a thermal forming oven and hydraulic press.

Reko International is a women-owned designer and manufacturer of complex automated assembly systems and tooling for global customers in a variety of industry sectors. With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company will expand its facility and invest in advanced equipment and technology that supports their culture of innovation.

Technicut Tool manufactures components for the aerospace and defense sector and other industries. With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company will acquire new equipment that will allow them to meet increased demand for their products.

Uni-Fab is one of the largest metal fabricators in Ontario, specializing in production of infrastructure that supports the automotive and aerospace sectors and other industries. With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company plans to invest in state-of-the-art equipment that will enable them to increase their production capacity.

Windsor Industrial Services is a complete metal fabrication, machining, paint and assembly shop supplying conveyor systems primarily to the auto industry. With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company will increase their production capacity and diversify their client base to other industries including food processing companies and mining

Supporting business investments in southwest Ontario is part of Ontario's plan to create fairness and opportunity during this period of rapid economic change. The plan includes a higher minimum wage and better working conditions, free tuition for hundreds of thousands of students, easier access to affordable child care, and free prescription drugs for everyone under 25 through the biggest expansion of medicare in a generation.

  • Windsor Industrial: Ontario is investing $185,700 from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, supporting an additional investment of $1,671,371 from the company. The project is creating 15 positions, retaining 57 and is expected to be completed by January 2022.
  • Since 2013, the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund has committed support of over $163 million, helping to create and retain around 41,000 jobs and leveraging over $1.92 billion in total investments.
  • Ontario is accepting applications for the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund from qualified businesses that are growing and creating jobs. Sectors eligible for the fund include advanced manufacturing, food processing, life sciences, information and communications technology, tourism and cultural industries.
