Investment Supporting Over 400 Jobs in Eastern Ontario

Province Partners with Local Business to Boost Regional Economic Growth

Ontario is partnering with CPK Interior Products Inc. to help create 89 new jobs and support 333 existing workers in the eastern region.

Lou Rinaldi, MPP Northumberland-Quinte West, on behalf of Jeff Leal, Minister Responsible for Small Business, made the announcement today at the company's headquarters in Port Hope.

CPK Interior Products manufactures automotive interior products such as door panels and consoles for the North American market. With support from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, the company will modify its facilities and install advanced new equipment.

Supporting good jobs and helping businesses grow is part of the government's plan for fairness, and providing care and opportunity during this period of rapid economic change. The plan includes free prescription drugs for everyone under 25, and 65 or over, through the biggest expansion of medicare in a generation, free tuition for hundreds of thousands of students, a higher minimum wage and better working conditions, and free preschool childcare from 2 ½ to kindergarten.

  • Ontario is investing up to $895,000 from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, supporting a total project investment of $8,132,400. The project will create 89 new jobs, and is expected to be completed by December 31, 2020.
  • Ontario is accepting applications for the Eastern Ontario Development Fund from qualified businesses that are growing and creating jobs. Sectors eligible for the fund include advanced manufacturing, food processing, life sciences, information and communications technology, tourism and cultural industries.
  • Since 2013, the Eastern Ontario Development Fund has committed support of over $55 million, helping to create and retain over 10,000 jobs and leveraging over $570 million in total investments.
  • Ontario’s five-year, $650-million Business Growth Initiative is helping to grow the economy and create jobs by promoting an innovation-based economy, helping small companies scale-up and modernizing regulations for businesses.
