Ontario Supporting Over 330 Jobs in Cambridge

Province Partners with Local Businesses to Strengthen Regional Economic Growth

Ontario is partnering with local businesses in Cambridge and Kitchener to create 83 new jobs and retain 250 positions in the manufacturing and food processing sectors.

The province's investments in Cambridge include the following partners and projects:

Leoni Elocab manufactures high performance custom cables and custom plug and play cable systems for the global market. With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company will expand its facility and purchase new equipment that will enable them to develop new product lines.

National Pasta produces fresh, frozen, and dry and gluten free pasta sauces and entrees.With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company upgraded their manufacturing capabilities with new equipment.

New World Friction manufactures passenger car and light truck brake pads for major auto parts retailers. With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company is upgrading its equipment to susbtantially improve the plant's capacity and output.

Trillium Metal Stampings is a manufacturer of metal stamping and mechanical assemblies for automotive, appliance, locomotive and construction industries across North America. With support from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, the company will expand its facility and purchase new equipment that will increase its production.

Supporting good jobs and helping businesses grow is part of the government's plan for fairness, and providing care and opportunity during this period of rapid economic change. The plan includes free prescription drugs for everyone under 25, and 65 or over, through the biggest expansion of medicare in a generation, free tuition for hundreds of thousands of students, a higher minimum wage and better working conditions, and free preschool childcare from 2 ½ to kindergarten.

  • Leoni Elocab: Ontario is investing $1.5 million from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, supporting a total eligible investment of $10.5 million from the company. The project will create 19 new jobs, help to retain 79 existing positions and is expected to be completed by December 2022.
  • National Pasta: Ontario is investing $280,500 from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, supporting a total eligible investment of $3,506,000 from the company. The project will create 10 new jobs, help to retain 15 existing positions and is expected to be completed by December 2021.
  • New World Friction: Ontario is investing $456,100 from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, supporting a total eligible investment of $3,040,400 from the company. The project will create 40 new jobs, help to retain 103 existing positions and is expected to be completed by December 2021.
  • Trillium Metal Stampings: Ontario is investing $475,252 from the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, supporting a total eligible investment of $4,277,263 from the company. The project will create 14 new jobs, help to retain 53 existing positions and is expected to be completed by July 2021.
  • Ontario is accepting applications for the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund from qualified businesses that are growing and creating jobs. Sectors eligible for the fund include advanced manufacturing, food processing, life sciences, information and communications technology, tourism and cultural industries.
  • Since January 2013, the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund has committed support of over $180 million, helping to create and retain around 49,000 jobs and leveraging over $2 billion in total investments.
