Postsecondary Partners Endorse eCampus Ontario Web Portal

The eCampus Ontario online portal will provide students with a more accessible, flexible and user-friendly postsecondary education experience. Here's what postsecondary partners are saying:

"One of the greatest strengths of this initiative is its collaborative, member-driven development.  I'm extremely proud that all 45 publicly-assisted colleges and universities in Ontario have actively engaged in this project, and have contributed to its success. Our member institutions are focused on the value that online learning brings to Ontario's students - wherever they are - and to ensuring that their learning experience is effective."

-- Cathy Newell-Kelly, Executive Director (University Sector), eCampus Ontario

Over the last 20 years, I've seen the demand for online programs and courses grow in leaps and bounds. I am really impressed with both the level of support provided by the ministry and the collaboration amongst institutions to respond to this demand. The launch of eCampus Ontario will help take online education to the next level across the province."

-- Linda Rees, Executive Director (College Sector), eCampus Ontario

Online education is an exciting solution to many accessibility problems in Ontario, presenting students with geographical or financial barriers the opportunity to receive high-quality education. The way students access higher education is evolving and these courses allow for much-needed flexibility and adaptability to different lifestyles and needs. In the pursuit of making online education better, different institutions are able to collaborate and innovate - breaking down the silos of individual classrooms, buildings, or universities."

-- Spencer Nestico-Semianiw, President, Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance

The Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario is happy to see the launch of the eCampus Online learning portal. The federation has long believed that online education should be used to enhance the classroom experience, and eCampus Online not only provides that support, but has the opportunity to facilitate higher education for busy, mature or returning students and those in isolated northern and rural communities who may be unable to leave home to pursue higher education."

-- Rajean Hoilett, Chairperson, Canadian Federation of Students-Ontario

The College Student Alliance hopes that eCampus Ontario will allow more students to access a postsecondary education. We are happy to have had the opportunity to work with stakeholders on this initiative and we applaud the ministry for making access to education a priority."

-- Jeff Scherer, President, College Student Alliance
